The Jar Key is an exceptional living aid, not only is it really affordable, it’s super long lasted and genuinely works!

This is my absolute favourite! I use my jar key every time I need to open a jar and it has become like an extra arm to me. It needs little to no pressure to open jars and maintains your wrist in one position avoiding the strain that twisting a jar lid will put on your wrists. It is also really small and doesn’t take up tonnes of drawer space as many other aids can.
The Jar Key is perfect for anyone with Joint Hypermobility like me, people who experience weakness or muscle wastage, arthritis and more. They could also be a great way to convince your children to be a little more independent and feel they can help out with the cooking!
How It Works:
All jars have a seal to keep them fresh, which needs breaking (the little poppy bit on the top that when open becomes depressed.) Many people with disabilities have reduced grip and/or strength, so for this reason, the Jar Key is designed to push under the lid, lift it enough to depress the seal and in turn opening the jar! I also use some of this amazing non-slip fabric in one hand to hold the jar still, as they can be quite slippery objects to grabs. You could also place it underneath the jar on a flat surface if your grip is particularly weak and you require more stability!
