This product is clearly designed with style and performance in mind, something that rarely happens in the world of wheelchair apparel. I have the bright blue coat which is a lot brighter than the image on their website, but I absolutely love the colour! It is also available in black.
The back of the coat is longer than the front to prevent the lower part of your back from getting cold or feeling the wind, whilst also ensuring the coat doesn’t ride up or have any excess material gathering around your stomach that so often comes with regualr jackets.
The coat had a magnetic zip called a Magzip which allows for single-handed use, which is great for people with limited hand function or dexterity issues. Similarly, it also has finger loops to pull the zips on each pocket.
There are pockets on the front of the coat in the centre, as well as inside, making things a lot easier to get items out of your pockets when sitting in your wheelchair as they are much easier to reach.
The coat fits really nicely as it’s tapered and also had a silicone grip on the back to stop it from sliding around, along with grips on the sleeves to aid self-propelling and prevent the coat from wearing down. The hood is both foldable and adjustable, so you can turn around and see behind you.

This keeps me so so warm! It’s now my go-to coat! I’ve got lots of big puffa ski jackets and fluffy coats, but they just get soaking wet in the rain or block my vision when I am in my chair. Thankfully this design solves all of these issues, whilst also being very compact.
Not only does it keep me dry, but also super warm and cosy which is perfect for a cold winter roll along Brighton’s seafront. I have been out of the house with just a vest on underneath and didn’t feel cold, which is incredible considering I really struggle to regulate my temperature! Because of this, I can also go from being freezing to boiling within seconds. Especially when wearing several layers topped by a big heavy coat that requires a lot of effort to undo. Yet the magnetic zip and flap on this coat make life much easier, allowing either myself or my carer to quickly remove it without causing any discomfort. Similarly, when using this coat I notice that my legs are cold but my upper body is retaining so much heat and I’m at the perfect temperature, I could be outside for ages on the seafront in this and not get cold.
So whilst it may seem like an expensive coat, the more I use it the more I understand why! I most definitely would spend the money on this coat as I believe it will last me a very long time, as it is made using such high-quality materials that wash well. I’d also much rather spend my money on one good accessible coat than lots of coats with poor designs and cheaper materials.
