As mentioned in our previous guest blog post, I have had the pleasure of working for Showerbuddy for the past 13 years. However, it is during this experience that I learnt there is unfortunately not standard design or layout in any one bathroom. Collectively this poses problems for people with disabilities, Occupational Therapists and property developers who need to find and create accessible bathroom solutions.
This is why I developed a free tool called BathCheck to assist OT’s, caregivers and mobility supply companies to properly evaluate a user’s bathroom remotely. Not only will this save enormous amounts of time and cost, but also allows professionals to be more efficient in times of high demand.
How many times has an OT travelled to a users home only to find the solution they had in mind will not work or would work if they had a specific accessory. Thankfully BathCheck by Showebuddy is a web-based app and will calculate all of these variants before they even left the office. Meaning home visits and product trials are guaranteed to be successful, which in turn provides the user with a more positive and less stressful experience. Plus during the pandemic users and healthcare professionals can have peace of mind, knowing they are minimising the amount of necessary physical contact, which reduces the risk of transmitting coronavirus.
BathCheck includes a short “How to Use” tutorial video if you need instruction, otherwise it is a simple process of inserting dimensions between various fittings inside the bathroom as prompted. A result will appear after each dimension box is completed, then a final results page can be printed or emailed at the end. There is no requirement to fill in personal details and it is FREE to access.
