Trekinetic

Trekinetic specialises in the production of ultra-lightweight, manual, and electric wheelchairs designed for everyday use, regardless of the terrain. Founded in 2006 by engineer Mike Spindle, Trekinetic set out to build a brand new type of wheelchair, which has led to them becoming a global leader in the production of ultra-lightweight, high-performance, all-terrain manual and powered wheelchairs. It took 6 years and 14 prototypes before they were ready to launch in 2006, but it is clear that the hard work and determination was worth it, as both these state of the art chairs have gone on to win multiple awards, because of their incredible design and ability to tackle all terrains.

Both the Manual K2 and the Powered GTE have 2 large front wheels, a monocoque tilt in space seat, rear shock absorber and 24" mountain bike tyres to ensure your ride is as smooth and as comfortable as possible. Treknetic's patented Varicam system allows you to change the angle of the wheels by simply turning a bar under the seat, meaning you can have a wider wheelbase for improved off-road stability or a narrower wheelbase for better indoor practicality. In addition to this, the carbon fibre seat can be customised further with hyperforma linings, growth kits for children, handlebar extensions, and a choice of over 200 colours for the outer shell!

Finally, the GTE is one of the only all-terrain power chairs on the market that can also be operated as a manual chair, preventing users from getting stuck when the battery runs out of charge, or from being unable to physically manoeuvre their chair in an emergency! Best of all, both the powered and manual models are designed to fold down and fit into a small vehicle with minimal effort. Meaning users are not dependant on wheelchair accessible vehicles and can be transported via train and plane with ease!

At AYL we are committed to sharing unbiased information on the best products and services for people with disabilities, so it is an honour to be partnering with Trekinetic! For more information on the engineering behind their wheelchairs, funding options, and booking a demonstration - simply check out the links below!
