Personal Opinion:
One of our favourite pieces of equipment is this all-terrain wheelchair! The Hippocampe is lightweight and floats in water, which can be enjoyable. There is a handle tie for the Carer to hold too for added safety. The passenger is secured with a seatbelt and harness, although we’re now investigating some more supportive seating to support his trunk.

The photos featured here show both the standard wheels and the white balloon wheels. The balloon wheels are ideal for soft sand and the best tip we’ve been given is going backwards is the easiest way to get over the soft sand. It really makes it easier for the carer pushing the wheelchair from behind!

When we’re done at the beach we can rinse off the sand, pop off the wheels on fold up the Hippocampe in its large travel bag. Thanks to this wheelchair, Harrison can still access and enjoy being the beach and in the water!
