SmartDrive – Powered Attachment

Item Description:
Black power assist which attaches (with clamp) to the axle bar of fixed frame wheelchair. A Bluetooth wristband activates and deactivates the power assist function by tapping the wheel.

Battery Life:
Up to 8-10 miles on reasonably flat ground.

Personal Opinion:
The SmartDrive hooks onto its own clamp which is fixed to the axle bar of my TiLite ZRA fixed frame wheelchair. It took a while for me to master attaching and detaching it whilst sitting in my chair, but I am now able to self propel on carpets, up inclines or over anything.

The SmartDrive gives me the freedom to go most places and I’ve used it to fundraise for the Brittle Bone Society (who funded this attachment and my Tilite wheelchair) by doing 50 sponsored walks of varying distances. It is best to use on smoother surfaces, but can just about cope with dry grass and slightly stony paths.

My SmartDrive has changed my life by giving me the freedom to enjoy many of the things I’d had to give up, including seemingly simple things like meeting friends, going shopping, enjoying the fresh air and much more. It also works seamlessly with my Phoenix Instinct Bag.
