Another Year Without Alcohol

Hi guys! Firstly, I want to say a massive happy new year to every one of you awesome people!

Last year I spoke about “Sitting With My Stranger” in one of my earliest blog posts for Access Your Life's website. Yet I am now sitting with …drumroll… ME! Just me, myself, and I! I also spoke previously about my journey through the tight grip of alcohol addiction, and in turn, smashing through walls created by my low mental health at the time. Hence my photo choice below that perfectly depicts how I felt back then, whilst staring directly into the pits of despair through the bottle of whatever poison I was drinking. Feeling completely and utterly trapped.

But I’m pleased to report that one year later, I toasted in the new year with a cup of COFFEE! I’m beginning to make progress with the Gender Clinic with the goal of achieving the elusive Top Surgery this year. I can now finally see the warrior within myself as I embark on my transition journey. I’m also a strong man, a kind man, and a truly grateful man. More importantly than all of that, I know I am a man. My self-understanding has soared, meaning I am no longer sitting with my stranger, but sitting with my true authentic self.

On a lighter note, big love to all who take the time to read my blogs which are more like ramblings haha! It brings me great joy to know that you are following my amazing, crazy, transition journey which is only just beginning! So please feel free to get in touch via the links below if you have any questions – as it’s always good to hear different views and experiences!

A pale yellow banner with information on the writer of this blog - Adam! Along with an image of Adam sitting on a sofa with a ginger cat on his lap. He is wearing a grey t-shift and smiling directly at the camera. The text reads: Hi, I'm Adam. A 45 year old Trans British Army Veteran living with Complex PTSD. My journey so far has taken me through a period of Transmutation between my mental health and my true authentic self, beyond the conformity of gender. I'm excited to share my journer, whilst helping others to speak as who they are, irrespective of fear or prejudice.
